SEA CON® has several penetrators available; the PSS (Penetrator Stainless Steel) series is a small diameter stainless steel housing which uses threads and o-ring seals to establish the pressure boundary. |

We manufacture several lines of penetrators that facilitate a cable assembly/harness to penetrate a bulkhead or instrument package without the use of connectors. Penetrators require all internal electrical connections to be broken and all wiring brought through the penetrating hole in order to detach the cable assembly. A connector set, on the other hand, will allow the cable assembly to be removed without disturbing the hardwiring. Penetrator assemblies have one advantage over connector penetrations in that they do not have the extra set of o-ring seals that are present in a connector set. The penetrator is sealed on the high pressure side (HP) of the cable utilizing the same moulding procedures and bond areas as would be seen on the back of a cable connecting plug (CCP).
The NPT (National Pipe Thread) penetrator is a stainless steel fitting which utilizes the thread configuration to retain the penetrator in the housing and also performs the sealing. This is utilized on hyperbaric chambers, deck chambers and diving bell systems. The MSG-FT penetrator is similar to the PSS Penetrator except that solder cups are used instead of pigtails in order to fit into the XSG mounting configuration. Our standard bulkhead connectors (BCR/FCR/BCL/BC) can also be moulded into penetrator assemblies. In all cases, the high pressure (HP) side of the penetrator is attached to the cable using standard moulding and bonding techniques.
